Team India cricketer KL Rahul dropped a tough catch from South Africa batter Aiden Markram during Day 3 (Monday, November 24) of the second Test at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. Pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, who produced the edge, was disappointed as the ball raced away for a boundary.
The Men in Blue, led by Rishabh Pant, were bowled out for just 201 runs in the first innings. Openers KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal added 65 runs for the first wicket, but the middle order failed to deliver. The home team collapsed to 122/7 before Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav added a 72-run partnership.

Jasprit Bumrah delivered a superb outswinger on a good length that took Markram’s outside edge. Rahul dived to his right and got his fingers to the ball, but it didn’t stick, giving the opener an early reprieve. With this, Markram has now been dropped twice in the match, once in each innings.

India’s Shocking Batting Display on Day 3 of the IND vs SA 2025 Second Test
India endured a disastrous batting collapse on Day 3 of the second Test in Guwahati. They collapsed from a strong position at 94/1 to a shocking 122/7 in their first innings. This came in response to South Africa’s imposing total of 489 in a must-win match.
Yashasvi Jaiswal had given India a steady start with a well-made fifty, but three quick wickets before lunch opened the door for the visitors. After the break, Rishabh Pant perished to a reckless shot, and Nitish Kumar Reddy and Ravindra Jadeja were undone by Marco Jansen’s sharp bouncers.
India eventually posted only 201, handing South Africa a massive 288-run lead. A late stand of 72 between Washington Sundar and Kuldeep Yadav helped slow the collapse, but the partnership could not prevent India from surrendering a huge advantage to the Proteas.
